Rotterdam, Netherlands – 21st October 2024 Kraken, the AI-powered, end-to-end platform for utility digitalization, has acquired Jedlix, a leading Rotterdam-based provider of smart EV charging solutions.
Jedlix specializes in smart and bi-directional charging solutions. The company brings an international catalog of API integration agreements with EV and charger manufacturers and energy companies including Renault, Polestar, Kia, Hyundai, Engie, Eneco, Vattenfall, EDF Luminus, Wien Energie, CKW, Next Energy, Yve, Easee, Zaptec, Go-E, Wallbox, and more.
These agreements enhance Kraken's position as the leading enabler of flexible demand management for utilities. Kraken enables its global client base to develop smart tariffs for a wider range of EV drivers. The client base includes major global energy players such as E.ON Next, EDF Energy UK, Tokyo Gas, Origin and Octopus Energy.
Kraken uses advanced machine learning to monitor the grid in real-time. The platform then automates EV charging schedules, enabling consumers to charge their cars with cheap, green energy, and sell back to the grid grid to support during peak periods. This saves drivers an average of £600 a year compared to a standard variable tariff and over £1,600 compared to a petrol car. This brings down bills for everyone, as it helps balance the entire energy system.
Kraken will welcome Jedlix’ skilled team, their technology and market-leading expertise in charging-control integrations. The Jedlix premises in Rotterdam will be redeveloped as a Kraken technology hub. This follows the opening of the UK’s first EnTech superhub in Manchester earlier this year.
Devrim Celal, Kraken’s Chief Marketing & Flexibility Officer, says: “Kraken is putting its foot on the accelerator of the EV revolution. The Jedlix team’s proven expertise and development center in Rotterdam expand our offering and empower our customers to transition to cheaper, cleaner charging.”
Serge Subiron, CEO of Jedlix, adds: “Since 2016, Jedlix has been a pioneer in consumer-centric smart and bidirectional EV charging services, aggregating today tens of thousands of electric vehicles and chargers in nine European countries. We are extremely proud to join The global tech leader of the energy transition, and such an amazing team! Our mission as Jedlix was to enable zero emission and zero cost charging for millions of electric vehicles across all continents. Expanding it to all distributed energy resources in the home at the scale of Kraken is an exciting ambition for the new super-charged team of Kraken in the Netherlands!
